As frustrating as yesterday’s Cardinals loss was — and oh, how was it — let us not forget one year today, when the Cardinals blew a 6-2 lead in the ninth inning to the Mets to lose 8-6. That loss dropped the Cardinals two games back with six games to go. Venerable St. Louis Post-Dispatch reporter Joe Strauss said “it may be worst loss in 10 years covering this club.”
Today, the Cardinals are a game-and-a-half ahead with 11 games to go. That is so, so much better of a position. I’m saying this repeatedly to myself as I sit on the floor rocking back and forth.
