Anyone who saw the great Young@Heart will be saddened this morning to learn of the death of Fred Knittle, the baritone singer with the oxygen tank who infused Coldplay’s “Fix You” with more soul than any Coldplay song has ever had, ever. If you haven’t seen this movie, you are heretofore commanded to do so. You will not regret it. Three weeks ago, Knittle learned his cancer was inoperable. “Oh well, I don’t expect to get out of this world alive,” he said.
