Want to know why Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz is (generally) so popular? This just showed up in my apartment’s mailbox.
It is a certificate of congratulations from Markowitz “on the occasion of your wedding.” Apparently Markowitz has staffers comb the NYT Weddings section, look for people who live in Brooklyn, find their addresses (thanks, National Grid?) and ship this to them. It is pretty much the cutest thing ever. (Frankly, it wouldn’t surprise me if he combs the wedding section and mails them out himself.)
You have to love our borough president, who once said he wouldn’t want to run for mayor because “then I’d have to deal with Staten Island. No way.” They don’t even do this in Coles County back in Mattoon. Thanks, Marty! You have my vote, and a spot on my fridge.
